Eat your beloved’s face with a giant custom cookie from The Confectionist

Two of life’s greatest pleasures – receiving presents and devouring edibles – have combined to form one of the best custom gift ideas we’ve ever seen.

There’s something delightfully odd yet strangely gratifying about knifing open a box from The Confectionist crew to discover your own or your lover’s face in life-size biscuit form staring back at you. We all know someone who would be perfectly suited to this kind of offering – whether it be to celebrate some newlyweds, cheer up a mate, farewell a colleague, welcome a new baby or bestow a souvenir of your own face to someone who’s leaving town. These one-of-a-kind gifts capture all your unique facial features in biccie-and-royal-icing form, right down to your slightly wonky smile and the freckles on your nose. The Confectionist baking extraordinaires aren’t even limited to human faces – if you know a pet that deserves to be put under the spotlight, they’ll joyfully carve any dog, cat, bird or lizard face out of dough for you.

Founders Georgia and Gabriel embarked on a two-year trot around the globe in 2016 and returned full of ideas for their new business, The Confectionist. The Melbourne-based duo does everything themselves – from designing, baking and icing the biscuits by hand, to painting the artwork on the tins and even making their own cookie cutters. Their attention to detail is unparalleled, from their personalised face biscuits to the themed cookie collections (think birthday, baby, wedding) and the extraordinary cakes. Biscuits are currently available in chocolate or vanilla, but stay tuned as the bakers work on new flavours as well as vegan and gluten-free options. Head online to browse the goods and place your order.
