If you’ve ever been to America or simply watched any US-made film or television show (that should cover all of you), then we can safely assume that you have heard of Taco Bell. The successful opening of its Annerley store in November 2017 spurred a Mexican wave across our sunny shores, with further restaurants in Cleveland and Northlakes to open soon after this weekend’s unveiling of its Robina location, which lies opposite Robina Town Centre on the former Oporto site. It doesn’t stop there – more than 50 (not a typo) Taco Bells are set to roll out across Australia by 2022. Holy guacamole.
Gold Coast folk can expect a fresh and unique Aussie spin on Taco Bell’s world-renowned Mexican menu. Like the Annerley store, Taco Bell’s drive-thru and dine-in Robina digs will offer a Cali-meets-Queensland style and vibe, with plenty of colour, murals by local artists, charging stations, free wifi and full view of the open-plan kitchen where everything from tacos to nachos and burritos will be prepared fresh to order using local produce. Die-hard fans can tuck into everything from the Cheesy Gordita Crunch (aka a hard taco inside a soft taco with plenty of cheese), Cali-style burritos, nachos stacked high and on-the-go bites like the one-handed Cheesy Beefy Burrito, from this Saturday onward.
Bonus – as an ode to the first Taco Bell opening in 1962, the first 62 customers through the door at Taco Bell Robina this Saturday November 3 will receive limited-edition merchandise, and the first 1000 customers will have the chance to win free Taco Bell for a year.
