Social Brew transforms Big B Arcade in Burleigh Heads

The Big B Arcade alongside Foodworks has been given a new lease on life as Social Brew cafe. The previously empty alleyway, now lined with booth-style seating and a nursery of hanging plants, is now a bustling hive of activity.

One look around Social Brew and two things become abundantly apparent, the first is that despite having only been open one week, the causal eatery has amassed quite the fan base and the second is that there’s a very good reason for that. Take a seat in one of the booths and browse the all-day breakfast selections that offers wholesome delights including a wellness board that is loaded with fruit, banana, yoghurt, raw honeycomb and toasted almond granola. Fill your fork with some sauteed field mushrooms with baby spinach, squares of grilled haloumi and poached eggs or bite into a good old-fashioned breakfast burger of bacon, eggs and onion. From 11:30 am, the lunch menu adds some extra selections including the popular breast board featuring southern-style fried chicken breast, chunky veggie chips, home-style mayonnaise and a side salad as well as crispy zucchini pizza. Wash it down with one of Social Brew’s potent cold-pressed concoctions or perhaps a refreshing house-made iced tea will hit the spot. For caffeine addicts, Social Brew offers four different bean combinations and cold drip coffee to curb your craving.

Social Brew is the latest venture from the Richards family, the same talented brood that have previously lent their name to the Department of Coffee in Palm Beach, the Plantation House Cafe in West Burleigh and Vanilla Bean in Burleigh Heads. Mark mans the grill, Amanda works her magic and creating the sweet and savoury morsels that fill the cabinets, Anna greets diners with her infectious cheer and on weekends, you’ll find Nathan behind the coffee machine while Sharon looks after the little ones and works behind the scene to keep everything running like clockwork. If wholesome food, friendly service and quality coffee floats your boat, see our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
