Seaside Kitchen & Bar is nestled along the Gold Coast Highway, just a hop, skip and a jump down from Tarte Bakery & Cafe, in the cavernous space formerly occupied by Zablsan Thai. With roughly 50 seats inside and out, the quaint eatery boasts a modern fit-out that is warm and welcoming with a scattering of two-seaters with a few larger settings roadside. Seaside Kitchen & Bar is the handiwork of long-time pals Kopchai (Chai), Kewalee (Krystal) and Kritthaphas (Tony), who all grew up in Chiang Mai, Thailand before relocating to the Gold Coast to open the beloved Spice Kitchen & Bar at The Oasis Broadbeach Shopping Centre. While there are certainly some similarities between the sibling venues, the Burleigh nook is intentionally more intimate and is designed to deliver a slightly more elevated dining experience.
When it comes to the menu, chef Tony has gone to great lengths to seamlessly blend traditional Thai flavours with modern elements and plating. There are plenty of familiar additions, such as steamed prawn dumplings and fragrant curries, however, there are also some unexpected inclusions. Notably, the mouth-watering ‘bao-ger’, which is essentially Asian-inspired burger fillings wrapped in a steamed bao bun. Just be sure to peruse the venue’s signature dishes before deciding – there’s a five-hour pork rib smothered in Thai-style sauce, seafood-filled fried rice that’s served in a hollowed-out pineapple and if you’re really hungry, a crispy-fried whole barramundi fillet. Thirsty? Seaside Kitchen & Bar also slings a selection of wines, local craft beers and colourful cocktails and mocktails infused with Thai aromatics.
