With so many of us avoiding those dreaded trips to the supermarket, this new initiative will enable Gold Coast folk to fill up their fridges and pantries with produce, products, wine and beer – all grown and made in the Scenic Rim – and have it delivered to their homes with just a few quick clicks. Plus, there’s the added bonus of knowing your weekly grocery spend is going straight to local businesses when they need it most. The recently launched Scenic Rim Farm Box concept initially sprouted in a bid to fill the gap left by the Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, which obviously couldn’t go ahead in its usual format this year. So, local producers, farmers and suppliers banded together to launch the service so they could still put their seasonal products in front of city-based consumers and, in turn, give the community a platform to easily access fresh, healthy food for their households.
Right now, locals are encouraged to register their interest for the Scenic Rim Farm Boxes on the website (do it now!) so you can receive information on how to order when it all goes live, which will be very, very soon. The first boxes were delivered in early May across Brisbane, with a new wave of deliveries including the Gold Coast catchment just announced. Now that it’s all up and running online, you can choose exactly what you want in your box so you can plan your weekly meals and pile your plates with delicious locally grown and made produce. While we may not be able to visit the Scenic Rim – it’s coming straight to us in the most convenient and delicious way possible! The shop for a new drop of boxes goes live on Friday May 22, so get a wriggle on and register your interest.
