Saké Sisters is a modern Japanese restaurant that is set to become the jewel in the Cali Beach crown and a dining destination in its own right. Offering unobstructed ocean views, Saké Sisters will operate under the stewardship of executive chef Marcelino Papio Jr. (affectionately known as JoJo), who has worked at some of the world’s best dining institutions including Nobu Sydney, Toko Restaurant in Surry Hills and Zuma Japanese Restaurant in Dubai. JoJo has dug deep to create an inspired modern menu that is tailored to the venue’s superlative location and utilises Queensland’s rich bounty of produce from the land and sea. Begin your culinary expedition with tastes of spicy edamame, wagyu-and-cheese gyoza and freshly shucked oysters with yuzu caviar and ponzu. The raw bar features an array of melt-in-your-mouth sashimi including Atlantic salmon, bluefin tuna, Western Australian scampi, Hiromasa kingfish and scallops, which are prepared in front of your eyes from the open kitchen. Saké Sisters will also put its own spin on raw dishes such as salmon ceviche, wagyu carpaccio and kingfish uzusukuri, alongside a selection of sushi rolls.
Moving onto mains, the grills at Saké Sisters will be firing with a delectable selection of Japanese-style sweet corn, yakitori chicken and wagyu beef skewers. For more substantial bites, tuck in to JoJo’s own personal favourite free-range spatchcock slathered in a signature seven-spice marinade. Other notable inclusions are kingfish collar with grilled pineapple soaked in sake and teriyaki sauce and a high-grade wagyu striploin served with pickled red radish, miso butter and chilli miso. The Japanese flavour that underpins the food menu has also filtered through to Saké Sisters’ speciality sips, which features a wide range of sake, umeshu and Japanese whisky.
Saké Sisters opens its doors this Friday December 3 at 5:30 pm. Bookings are highly recommended.
