Currumbin hidden treasure Portside Coffee has expanded its space and menu offering

Nestled in the heart of Currumbin Creek Road is where you'll discover Portside Coffee, a local's favourite and perhaps the area's best-kept secret (sorry for spilling the beans, regulars). This special little spot has just become a little bigger in both its venue size and menu, with its loyal legion of coffee-sipping customers hoping to grow a little too.

Owned by Rob and Rebecca Tingay, Portside Coffee is a small-but-mighty caffeine dispensary that has just expanded its operations into a neighbouring space, which will allow for some experimentation in the kitchen and more perching spots for customers. The new indoor space, located directly next to the barista station, boasts a scattering of tables with bench seats (which Rob says will be a saviour on the chilly winter days and super-hot summer swelters), a large kitchen and a place to prop up Portside Coffee merch. ST. ALi coffee runs through the La Marzocco machine each morning, with two roasts available for the tired and weary. Those looking to be perked up can try the Wide Awake strong espresso blend, a chocolate, butterscotch and praline flavour combination that owner and barista Rob says will keep you going all day. Folks who like their brew a little sweeter can savour the Orthodox espresso blend, an apple jam, fudge and chocolate sip that will have your taste buds singing. “We’ve got really good coffee, and that’s what our customers come in for,” Rob says.

A succinct brekky menu features the likes of smashed avo on sourdough, a bacon-and-egg roll and the eggs Benny croissant, while various wraps and toasties are sure to fix your appetite. Croissants and pastries come from Nobees Viennoiserie Lab, which is conveniently located right next door, meaning Portside Coffee gets still-warm-from-the-oven treats delivered upon opening each day. “We get them hot off the trays every morning. It’s literally as if we have our own pastry chef,” Rob says. Customers rave about the pastries too, with Rob adding that their feedback is that “they are the best outside of France”. Acai bowls will soon grace the menu too, and there’s plans to expand the food offering even further with a focus on healthy and hearty fare.

Portside Coffee is now open seven days a week (yes, Sundays too!) and can be found just behind the carpark between Panya Artisan Bakery and Shipwreck Barbers (look out for the sign so you don’t miss this brew-slinging beauty). Check out our Stumble Guide for more information.
