The Lucky Squire
Craft-beer lovers are about to get their ultimate haven – the Gold Coast’s first James Squire brewhouse and restaurant is coming this summer! Food and beverage brand Lion and Mantle Group Hospitality (MGH) have announced their latest venture, The Lucky Squire – a double-storey venue that will occupy the western corner of The Oracle in Broadbeach. The Lucky Squire will feature a restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a bar and a microbrewery. The state-of-the-art space will be pouring the full James Squire core beer range and regular Malt Shovel limited editions, as well as varietals brewed in house. The opening of The Lucky Squire is pegged for early 2019. Keep your eyes peeled for all of the details.
Loft
Some news out of Byron Bay – Loft, an elevated cocktail bar serving snacks and sips, is due to open later this month. Loft takes over the upstairs Jonson Street space that was most recently restaurant and bar Ryce, and originally home to Hog’s Breath Cafe. Byron Bay hospitality identity Matt Hunt is behind the new venue, which is said to serve cocktails, ice-cold tap beer and a modern Australian food offering. We’re told there will be an oyster and charcuterie bar, with fresh Australian oysters shucked and cured meats carved by chefs before your eyes. A snack menu will be served all day, featuring bites like crispy-prawn milk buns with chilli mayonnaise, and duck schnitzel on white bread with caramelised onion. The menu, driven by regional produce, will also touch on larger dishes like coal-smoked beetroot with almond cream and classic beer-battered market fish with malt-vinegar fries and pea puree. 8 Street and Crafty’s
Harbour Town Shopping Centre has announced two major tenants that will form part of its $25-million dining precinct – hawker-style Asian laneway 8 Street and family-friendly sports bar Crafty’s. You would remember 8 Street from its original 28-tenant premises in Surfers Paradise, which has since been renamed to CHOP CHOP under new management by Denwol Group. Owner of the 8 Street brand David Wu has his sights set on Harbour Town, creating a 600-sqm market-style space that will feature 14 Asian street-food tenants. Sports bar Crafty’s will be a casual venue with an all-day food offering, serving everything from morning coffees to craft beer and cold-pressed mimosas. Harbour Town’s new open-air dining precinct, located in front of Reading Cinemas, is due to open to the public in December. More tenants are to be announced in the coming weeks, we’ll keep you posted.
