Melbourne-born burger chain Pattysmiths opens its first Gold Coast location

Drool-worthy burger chain Pattysmiths, which launched in Melbourne last August, has opened its first location on the Gold Coast. Dubbed as a 'gourmet alternative' to traditional fast-food burgers, Pattysmiths is slowly but surely expanding its foothold across the country, with the newly opened Merrimac burger joint marking the fifth location for the chain.

For the uninitiated, Pattysmiths is (as its name suggests) all about the patty. Just like metalsmiths are master craftsmen of metal, Pattysmiths believes it has perfected the art of hand-crafted burger patties. The chefs (known as Patty Smashers) use a signature blend of wagyu and Angus beef that is hand-smashed on a custom-built iron plate to create a ‘golden crust’, forming the core component of its eye-popping burgers. Gold Coasters can now get a taste of the goodness from its first location on Gooding Drive in Merrimac (next to the United Petrol Station). The expansive menu caters for the burger traditionalists, as well as gluten-free folk and vegetarians, with a raft of burger varieties, fries, sides, thick shakes and desserts.

There’s a classic cheeseburger (beef patty, American cheddar, house pickles, ketchup, mustard and blanched onions), or you can wrap your mitts around the indulgent Mac & Cheese Royale featuring a beef patty with a mac’n’cheese katsu patty, cheese, special sauce, ketchup, mustard, lettuce and tomato. Keen for some zing? The spicy double beef will curb your cravings with double beef and double cheese alongside maple bacon, spicy sauce and jalapenos. Fried-chicken lovers can tuck into the Southern-style fried-chicken burger with slaw, aioli and smoky barbecue sauce, or attempt the fried-chicken waffle with maple bacon and vanilla soft-serve. There’s also a towering panko-crumbed mushroom burger that serves as a pleasurable bite for meat-free eaters. As for the sides, think loaded onion rings topped with cheese, bacon and spring onion, as well as both beer-battered chips and traditional French fries. To finish? Go nuts with waffles, sundaes and thick shakes galore.

Pattysmiths Merrimac is now open! Head to our Stumble Guide for opening hours, address and contact details.
