Chow down on chook and raise money for drought relief with Parma for a Farmer

Chow down on chook and raise money for drought relief with Parma for a Farmer

If you’re anything like us at The Weekend Edition, you probably love to tuck in to a good old-fashioned parma – after all, what’s not to love about the classic combination of crispy crumbed chicken breast, rich Napoli sauce, tasty ham and delightfully stretchy cheese? Now that we have your attention, we would like to let you know of a little initiative that allows you to parma for a purpose – specifically to help out Australian farmers doing it tough at the moment.

The aptly named Parma for a Farmer fundraising movement is being run by Rural Aid, with money going specifically towards the Buy a Bale campaign. It’s pretty simple stuff – all you have to do is track down a participating venue and purchase a parma, then $1 from that parma will go directly towards buying bales of hay for drought-stricken farmers. Every little bit makes a difference, too – just $20 buys a small bale of hay to feed cattle, which can make a world of difference in the spots where it’s literally too dry for grass to grow.

So far, a bunch of awesome local venues have put their hands up to support the Parma for a Farmer movement. Places like Malt House, Daark EspressoCommune EspressoBeach Hotel in Byron Bay are amongst the list of spots where you can get your fix and contribute to a great cause – you can check out the full list of participating venues here. If you’re from a venue and you’re interested in registering, you can do so here.

Not DTP (down to parm)? For those who don’t dig chicken, donations can be made to Buy a Bale through the official website.
