Satisfy your thirst for adventure and excellent coffee at Burleigh’s new cafe/lifestyle destination Outerbound

Plenty of things are out of our control right now. One thing we can determine with absolute certainty, however, is our morning coffee. And when it comes to that particular ritual, we will not compromise on quality. If coffee is a non-negotiable part of your day, detour via Burleigh's new cafe/lifestyle destination, Outerbound, on Kortum Drive. The new hub is here to fuel your thirst for adventure while quelling your craving for caffeine and wholesome snacks.

Okay, we’ll admit it. We spend a ridiculous amount of time mentally planning our epic escape into the wilderness. Pressing pause on city life and hitting the road in search of adventure is pretty much the ultimate daydream. Two people who share our enthusiasm for both excellent coffee and the outdoors are Outerbound’s co-owners Martin Corr and Nathan Crouch. The pair stumbled upon the former Salvation Army depot on Kortum Drive during a late-night internet search of realestate.com.au and they were immediately taken by the site’s incredible potential, not to mention those arch windows. After a hasty fit-out process, Outerbound opened its doors just prior to Christmas and is envisioned primarily as a cafe space with a retail component to complement. Coffee is undoubtedly the hero here, with Sydney’s Single O on the decks. For coffee purists, there will always be a special single-origin filter to sip alongside an ever-changing limited-edition roast. Those with a sweet tooth will appreciate the biscotti-infused and iced-chai lattes, while non-coffee drinkers can sip a fresh cold-pressed juice from Tonic Juice Co. Peckish? You’re in luck – there’s a selection of wholesome snacks from Nourishing By Sally as well as tasty treats from Palmy’s popular Well Bread & Pastry. At-home baristas can also enjoy a taste of Outerbound to-go with the beans available to buy by the bag.

When it comes to the retail side of things, Outerbound’s physical location is an extension of its virtual store of the same name. The online boutique is a curated guide of lifestyle essentials that have been extensively tried and tested by Martin and Nathan to ensure that every single product that makes its way onto the virutal shelves meets their stringent standards in terms of quality, function, aesthetics and ethics. Among the inventory, you’ll find threads by Patagonia, reusable vessels from Hydro Flask, leather goods from Status Anxiety as well as a capsule of handcrafted surfboards by local shapers. The gents have big plans for the space including carpark parties with food trucks and surf flicks, so watch this space.
