The round-up: where to eat, drink and pop bottles on the Gold Coast for New Year’s Eve

To say this year has been a wild ride is a pretty massive understatement but here we are, we made it! The end of 2020 is in our sights and amongst the glorious chaos of Christmas, it's easy to forget about planning the biggest party of the year – New Year's Eve! Whether you’re keen to bid 2020 adieu with fine food and fancy cocktails, keep things casual with an intimate dinner, have a feast for the ages or ring in the new year at a splendid soiree (if ever there was a year to go all out for NYE, this is it), we’ve rounded up a bunch of New Year’s Eve celebrations happening around the Gold Coast.

The Star Gold Coast
Garden Kitchen & Bar
is serving up three very tempting options for partygoers this New Year’s Eve. Choose from an a la carte meal in the restaurant as part of the first seating from 5:00-7:00 pm, indulge in a set dinner menu and three-hour beverage package in the restaurant for the second seating from 8:00 pm to late (with access to the festivities on The Lawn), or savour a picnic and three-hour premium beverage package on The Lawn from 8:00 pm to late. Find more info about the food menu, drinks package and tickets online. For those craving an international flavour, Cucina Vivo will bring Italian cuisine to the party with two seatings. Enjoy a set menu and welcome glass of Prosecco from 6:00-8:00 pm or an expanded set menu with three-hour beverage package from 8:30 pm to late. Find both set menus, beverage options and ticket details online. Award-winning restaurant Kiyomi will also be playing host this New Year’s Eve, with two seatings available for a sumptuous set menu for two, created by visionary executive head chef Chase Kojima. Find menu details and book tickets online. If you’re in the mood for Chinese cuisine, Imperial at The Star has you covered with both a la carte and banquet options for New Year’s Eve dinner. Join the first seating from 5:30-7:30 pm and choose your own foodie adventure from the a la carte menu, or bring a mighty appetite to the second seating from 7:45 pm to late. Peruse a detailed banquet menu and purchase tickets online.

Nineteen at The Star
Elevate your New Year’s Eve celebrations this year (literally and figuratively) at Nineteen at The Star. This sought-after locale will turn it up with a six-course Sunset Seating from 6:00-8:00 pm or a seven-course Moonlight Seating from 8:30 pm to late in the restaurant, or spend the evening sipping beverages and relaxing in the bar. The specially curated menu will feature options like confit duck rillette with pickled fig, grilled Patagonian toothfish with toasted nori, and chocolate meringue pie with Pedro Ximenez ice-cream. Find menu details online and email [email protected] for tickets.

If you’re keen to sing and dance your way into 2021, then spend your New Year’s Eve down at Seagulls in Tweed Heads – this year, it’s going to go off! To get you moving and grooving (it’s allowed over the border!), local favourites Sweet Mixjah will kick things off from 6:00 pm. Aus-rock is on the cards as Let There Be AC/DC is set to hit the stage around 10:00 pm to help you count down until midnight. After you welcome 2021 with open arms, enjoy the best of 2020 from 12:30 am until 2:00 am with Sweet Mixjah’s Leigh spinnin’ the tunes. This is one not-to-be-missed end-of-year soiree! Head to the Gold Coast’s highest attraction to ring in the new year and enjoy 360-degree views of our beautiful city as we say good riddance to 2020. Enjoy canapes and grazing dishes, as well as two chef-manned food stations, plus a two-hour drinks package and complimentary Quarantini cocktail on arrival. Consider this your official invitation to step back in time to when booze was banned and the parties raged until the wee hours – yes, it’s 1920s baby! Doll up and get ready for an evening of glitz and glamour complete with a four-hour food and drink package. There will be venue voucher giveaways and live entertainment including count-down celebrations at midnight! Jump over here for tickets.
