Pastry haven Mr Buttergoods opens in Palm Beach

Pastry lovers, artisan-bread fanatics and appreciators of all-things butter based – please form an orderly line. There's a new bakehouse in town and you're going to want to get acquainted quick smart. This sweet haven we speak of is called Mr Buttergoods and it recently opened its doors right in the thick of the action in Palm Beach.

Mr Buttergoods is a new venture from the owners of American-style eatery and bar Lester & Earl, which sits directly above the new beachside bakehouse. The street-level space was occupied by Palm Beach Cycles for around two decades (fun fact – it was a lawn bowls store before that), but has undergone a complete revamp to become to the coast’s newest dispensary of all things baked. Step inside Mr Buttergoods and you’ll be greeted with cabinets brimming with a colourful and diet-busting series of handcrafted pastries, from oversized doughnuts and cream-filled choux bombs to eclairs, flaky croissants, giant brownies, chunky cookies and more. Pastry chef Carmen Stimpson is very much in her element, crafting the daily delights as well as boundary-pushing weekly specials from behind the viewing glass.

It’s most certainly not all about the sugar here. Given the proximity to its barbecued meat-centric sibling, Mr Buttergoods calls upon Lester & Earl’s delicious slow-cooked brisket as filling for its moreish meat pies, and you’ll also find barbecue sauce-infused pulled-pork sausage rolls featured on the regular. Keen for breakfast? Mr Buttergoods has you covered there too (what a guy) with a menu of eggs on toast, bacon and egg rolls and a classic croissant eggs benny. While we already feel like a kid in candy shop here, we’re told that this is just a bite of what’s to come – the breakfast menu is still in its infancy and is set to expand over coming weeks, while the display cabinet will be filled out further with fresh sandwiches and colourful salads.

It’s time to meet Mr Buttergoods – head to our Stumble Guide for hours, location and contact details.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
