Hand-made dumplings swimming in punchy dashi, pillow-soft bao buns sandwiching Sichuan snapper and pickled jalapenos, and delicately crisp pieces of karaage chicken with white kimchi. Salivating? Well, take a moment to compose yourself so we can introduce you to Madam Fu – a sophisticated-yet-fun newcomer that is bringing a melting pot of Asian flavours to Isle of Capri. 


Madam Fu, located within the Capri on Via Roma precinct, is the second venture from the team behind popular Chevron Island dining spot Fu Manchu Oriental Kitchen. Shaped with repurposed timber (fun fact – the tables are crafted from timber recycled from a 1950s Broadbeach home), the impressive 80-seat dining space enjoys water views from its position tucked between Edgewater and The Fish Emporium. After delighting diners for more than three years with delectable fare at Fu Manchu, the team decided to expand with another modern-Asian venue, again melding a variety of flavours from Korean to Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai and Chinese to create Madam Fu’s flavour-packed lunch and dinner menu.

While the Asian-fusion approach is shared across both venues, Madam Fu’s share-style menu sees an entirely new wave of dishes come to life, intriguing diners with a balance of tradition and modernity, while also incorporating foraged native ingredients. There are fresh and light starters like smoked Mooloolaba tuna with finger lime and wild wood sorrel, and the lemongrass trout tartare with sea herbs and trout-skin crisps. Ditch the chopsticks while you enjoy hand-held eats like the wonton tacos topped with combinations like beef rendang with cucumber and pineapple salsa, or the spicy-cauliflower bao bun drizzled with kaffir-lime mayo. For an aromatic hit, go for the chicken and garlic-chive dumplings served in a roasted-chilli black vinegar, the grilled octopus in a smoked-wakame broth, or indulge in the Sichuan-spiced pork belly with native-plum caramel. From the garden, think dishes like fried local shishito peppers with sambal mole and manchego, and the soba-noodle salad with smashed cucumber, beans and roasted peanuts. Madam Fu keeps a selection of Asian bottled beers behind the bar, alongside a decent array of white, red and in-between wines.
