All-natural, small-production wine shop Luna Wine Store opens in Byron Bay

If you're into natural, sustainable, minimal-intervention wines and often find it hard to get your hands on the good stuff, then here's some great news. A new sommelier-owned wine store has opened in Byron Bay, devoted solely to small-scale producers that focus on sustainable farming and low-intervention winemaking.

Luna Wine Store, located on Jonson Street in central Byron Bay, is a new venture from award-winning Northern Rivers sommelier Russ Berry (most recently of Harvest Newrybar), along with Lo-Fi Wines directors James Audas (ex Noma and Silvereye) and Tom Sheer (ex Love, Tilly Devine and Oscillate Wildly). The renowned trio’s shared passion for wine and love of hospitality is the driving force, with the boutique retail space aiming to explore the conversation around natural wine, while also offering pairing guidance to everyone from wine geeks to the curious sippers.

More than 300 different wines will line the shelves initially, bolstered by easy-drinking styles from Australian favourites like Jilly, Latta, Tom Shobbrook, Bill Downie and Ochota Barrel. Luna Wine Store will also feature an assembly of international drops from the likes of Domaine Bobinet (Loire Valley, France), Cristian Tschida (Burgenland, Austria) and Lammidia (Abruzzo, Italy), as well as a small selection of sake and beers.
