VoVos, Crackles and Gaytimes galore – chocolatier Koko Black unleashes a nostalgia-laden collection

There’s something undeniably charming about the classic Australian snack landscape. A combination of nostalgia, simplicity and straight-up deliciousness has cemented some truly incredible culinary creations into our country’s treats canon. Show us an Aussie that doesn’t go gaga for a Gaytime, loopy for a lamington or wacky for a Wagon Wheel and we will eat our collective hats! It is within this timeless selection of sweets that beloved artisan chocolatier Koko Black has found its latest inspiration, launching a limited-edition Australian Classics collection that will delight your tastebuds while igniting some serious throwback feels.

Now more than ever, we’re seeking comfort in the familiar – which is exactly what the Koko Black Australian Classics collection wants you to do. Remco Brigou, head chocolatier and product innovation manager at the famous company (side note: what a dream job) has outlined that this new range is a throwback to the “good old days” – think corner stores, milk bars, tuckshop treats, party bags and school fetes. This pick-and-mix of reference points has come together to fuse old-school simplicity with a dash of new-world innovation – and the results are something to behold.

Curious chocolate fiends can get amongst a range of six new flavours that are straight out of your childhood. There’s a sweet-and-salty Gaytime ganache bar, a Koko Vovo creation boasting rosewater marshmallow, the iconic Jam Wagon sandwich (with biscuit and marshmallow, of course), crispy-cornflake Honey Joys and their milky counterpart Koko Krackles, plus a dreamy Lamington Slice just to tip the reminiscing over the edge. Those keen for a trip down memory lane can buy each new flavour individually, or splash out on the Ultimate Classic Collection Hamper with one of everything – the obvious choice if you hate making decisions.

You can treat your inner child and shop the Koko Black Australian Classics collection here – but be quick because this is a limited-edition affair.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
