Pickles, bites and books – Keith’s Shop of Really, Really, Really Good Things opens in Murwillumbah

While we're certainly surrounded by an abundance of deliciousness here on the Gold Coast, sometimes it's nice to venture out of own in search of a little bit of magic. Sure, Byron Bay is a fail-safe go-to option for many, but there's a newcomer in Murwillumbah that will surely have you exiting the motorway a little sooner. It's called Keith's Shop of Really, Really, Really Good Things, and if you're willing to travel for pickles, fresh bread and homely meals, then you'll really, really, really love this spot.

Keith’s Shop of Really, Really, Really Good Things, which opened on Murwillumbah Street in early September, is the second venue in the township by local duo Matthew Taylor and Katie Browne. Two-and-a-half years ago they opened Keith – a day-and-night eatery and bar serving specialty coffee, breakfast, lunch, baked goods, plus natural wines and craft beers. Keith is all about home-style food, great coffee and quality booze, so Matthew and Katie set out to create a separate one-stop-shop nearby that was an extension of Keith’s renowned ethos and personality. Basically, the duo wanted to fill the new space with things they would want to go out and buy themselves.

Locals and visitors (that’s you) can now head to Keith’s Shop of Really, Really, Really Good Things for grab-and-go eats, deli items, fresh breads, house-made pantry essentials like pickles, kimchi and preserves, plus gifts like tote bags, locally made ceramic pieces, greeting cards, books (that you’ll actually want to read) and coffee-brewing equipment. You’ll find a selection of salads, fresh-made sandwiches on locally made bread, bagels and soups served up on the daily. The team also creates simple homestyle dishes on site (just like your mum used to make) and has them ready to go in take-home packages – there’s everything from hearty lasagnes to pizzas (made with Keith’s own passata) and hearty cottage pies. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, Keith is an actual person – an Irishman living in London who happens to be Matthew and Katie’s best friend, and he’s really, really, really chuffed with his Mur’bah namesake.

Keith’s Shop of Really, Really, Really Good Things opens Monday to Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00 pm and is located at 132 Murwillumbah Street, Murwillumbah.
