It’s impossible to miss the sheer volume of construction underway on Broadbeach Island. What you may have missed, however, is nestled at the base of Dorsett Gold Coast, which officially opened its doors on Boxing Day, is a delightful new sip spot called Jin Cafe & Bar. Meaning ‘gold’ in Mandarin, the palatial pad was designed by the award-winning global hospitality interior design firm HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates) and reflects Dorsett Gold Coast’s incredible attention to detail and breathtaking design. Inspired by the world-famous cocktail bar named Jin Bo Law in Dorsett City, London, as well as Jin Bar at Dorsett Shepherds Bush, the Gold Coast iteration is a quaint and intimate space that perfectly responds to your mood, whatever that may be.
Jin Cafe & Bar’s menu evolves as the day progresses. From early morning, visitors can stop by for a Vittoria Coffee and a freshly baked danish or croissant. From midday, the selection is geared toward grab-and-go bites including fresh salads and sandwiches to munch on the run. Then, as dusk descends, sink into one of Jin Cafe & Bar’s plush gold couches and peruse the selection of drinks, which meanders from crafted cocktails to beer, sparkling, wine and spirits. The venue’s specialty is its namesake Dorsett Blue, a vibrant teal concoction featuring tequila, Cointreau, Curacao and agave. The Ruby Pink with gin, grapefruit, honey and rosemary is another stand-out. Feeling peckish? Graze your way through a charcuterie board loaded with a selection of cured meat, cheeses such as Bay of Fires clothbound cheddar from Tasmania, artisanal bread, seasonal chutney and baby pickled figs. Side it with a trio of freshly made dips or a pork and pistachio terrine (definitely do), and you have yourself a mighty fine feast.
