While the closure marks the end of a thrilling era for Hellenika on the Gold Coast, its Brisbane restaurant, located at The Calile hotel, will remain as is. So, if Hellenika’s lamb shoulder and zucchini chips were a regular part of your diet, don’t fret – your fix of the Greek goodness is just a short drive up the M1 away. Hellenika Brisbane is also soon to be joined by Simon Gloftis’ latest venture SK Steak & Oyster, which will open at The Calile in the coming weeks.
Not all is lost for Hellenika’s striking double-storey Nobby Beach home – the owners of Justin Lane in Burleigh Heads have taken over, and will open a Mediterranean-style restaurant and rooftop bar named Loki (pronounced lock-ee). We’re told the new arrival will be all about ‘drinking, dining and dancing’, offering a versatile food menu alongside an extensive wine and cocktail list. While the street-level dining room and the upstairs rooftop will share the same food and beverage menus, the vibe will differ – the restaurant will be a more intimate setting, while the rooftop offer more of a bar vibe, with DJs and live music to set the scene. It’s set to re-open its doors in early December (aka very soon) so keep your eyes peeled – we’ll give you an inside look at Loki shortly!
