The round-up: sink your teeth into the Gold Coast’s best steaks

Carnivores, this one is for you. Whilst there are plenty of Gold Coast establishments that serve a mean steak, we've taken the liberty of rounding up a few of the standouts. Here are some of the Gold Coast's best steaks that you should absolutely sink your teeth into.

Glenelg Public House, Mermaid Beach: Known for specialising in meat, Glenelg boasts an impressive selection of top-end steaks, which are prepared with minimal intervention. The steaks here are next-level and are served simply, with an array of plant-based sides (the dirty sebago fries are the bomb), sauces, mustards and butter.

Nineteen at The Star, Broadbeach: Nestled on the top floor of luxury hotel The Darling at The Star Gold Coast, this elevated dining establishment boasts a fine selection of delectable steaks, ranging from the 300-gram scotch fillet to the kitchen’s signature rare slow-roasted prime rib. Keen to step it up? Go for the full-bodied highly marbled wagyu sirloin ‘Kiwami’ for two.

Little Truffle Dining Room & Bar, Mermaid Beach: If you’re yet to check out the impeccable new-look Little Truffle, let the Cape Grimm beef rib eye be your motivation. Weighing in at a cool one-kilogram, the succulent slab is served on the bone with French fries and mustards.

kōst, Broadbeach: Amalgamating three sites along Oracle Boulevard, kōst is a slick new venue that is envisioned as a contemporary bar and grill concept. The Over Embers section of the menu is where you will find the bulk of the venue’s signatures, including its show-stopping selection of steaks. Our pick is the must-try Rangers Valley wagyu rump cap +6.

Meat & Co, Broadbeach: It’s all in the name – if you’re a bit of a carnivore, look no further. Meat & Co serves up a selection of premium cuts like Black Onyx rump, Jack’s Creek Wagyu Striploin, and a mammoth 1-kg Cape Grim tomahawk, which all arrive with your choice of mash, broccolini or roasted potatoes.

Moo Moo Wine Bar & Grill, Broadbeach: Since 2005, this Broadbeach institution has built a long-standing reputation for its premium steaks. The serious steak connoisseurs among us will want to experience Moo Moo’s signature steak – a spice-rubbed 1-kg wagyu rump roast. This fine feast is sealed on the grill and oven roasted, then carved at the table and served with leaf salad with pear, pecans and ricotta, wagyu fat potatoes and a selection of sauces.

Kiyomi, Broadbeach: This innovative dining space, well-regarded for bringing the intricate flavours of Tokyo to the Gold Coast, incorporates a very sophisticated steak offering into its cutting-edge menu. Here you’ll find steaks that are exclusive to Kiyomi’s kitchen – the 9+ wagyu flank with confit shiitake, takana, caramelised onion and kombu jus is a true delight, or you can treat yo’self and opt for the MBS 5+ wagyu scotch fillet with spicy daikon, ponzu, wasabi and lime.

Hurricane’s Grill & Bar, Surfer’s Paradise: Famous for its mouth-watering grilled menu, Hurricane’s Grill & Bar offers up a selection of grass-fed, grain-fed and specialty steaks. Our choice? The 250-g Tajima wagyu beef sirloin MS7+ with a side of baked Hasselback potatoes.

Red Steakhouse & Bar, Sanctuary Cove: Red Steakhouse & Bar, perched on the edge of Masthead Way in The Marine Village at Sanctuary Cove, is a modern steakhouse that is taking things back to the dining days of old with nostalgic throwbacks and good old-fashioned service. Go with a group and share the 1-kg Black Angus T-Bone – served medium-rare, of course.

Mr Hizola’s, Burleigh Heads: At this modern Cantonese restaurant in the heart of Burleigh Heads, everything is designed to share. That includes the venue’s signature sizzling wagyu steak, which you’ll love so much you will be intent on ordering two.

Brazilian Flame Bar and Grill, Surfers Paradise: Six words that will have us salivating on site? All-you-can-eat Brazilian barbecue. Hungry passersby are drawn in from the smell of roasting meat at this Surfers Paradise spot, and they’re not disappointed once they take a seat and watch sizzling items like butter-grilled picanha rump cap carved right in front of their eyes.
