Jokes and java – Funnybone Coffee lands in Helensvale

We could all do with a laugh right about now, and if you’re anything like us, you’re also probably in need of a good ol' cup of Joe. Combining these two essentials is Funnybone Coffee, Helensvale’s newest haunt from the coffee connoisseur behind Good Day Coffee in Tugun.

The Gold Coast is renowned for its cafe culture, and a business’s success depends upon a careful balance of three key ingredients – excellent coffee, top-notch treats and good vibes. With owner Damian Swan’s experience at Blackboard Coffee, before opening the much-loved Good Day Coffee in Tugun, it’s no wonder that Funnybone Coffee hits the mark. Whether you’re heading past for a quick bean juice or something more substantial, Funnybone Coffee is serving up all the cafe favourites made with fresh and locally-sourced produce. Breakfast and lunch heroes – including a killer eggs benny – will be on offer of course, but don’t skip Funnybone’s take on the much-loved (some would say, cult-favourite) Good Day Coffee cookies. If a different kind of sweet treat tickles your fancy, freshly-baked pastries will also be served up daily as will next-level cakes from Bes Kitchen.

Funnybone Coffee’s interior is light-filled and airy, with large windows allowing sun rays to stream in and natural materials like timber and stone making the space feel down-to-earth and fresh. This relaxed but welcoming vibe is a feeling that Damian was determined to instil at Funnybone Coffee, hoping that it would become a meeting space for the community to feel comfortable in. Whether it be a quick bite to eat, a lunch meeting or simply your morning coffee spot, the communal dining tables and timber nooks provide ample space to relax in. Funnybone Coffee’s location next to the Buckler Park playground means that it’s the perfect post-play babycino stop, or parental caffeinaton-station before the kidlets run wild on the monkey bars. Little tackers will also be treated to a delicious and nutritious children’s menu that includes chia puddings, granola and kids’ toasties.

Funnybone Coffee is now open in The Surrounds in Helensvale – head to the Stumble Guide for opening hours.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
