You’ll find Frankies Brasserie tucked below the Aria apartment tower on the corner of Surf Parade and Queensland Avenue. The space, which was left vacant by burger joint Hello Harry before being occupied sporadically earlier this year by pop-up eateries Down N’ Out and The Lobster Shack, has been re-worked into a casual 50-seat eatery, designed to bring refined eats, great wine and a relaxed neighbourhood vibe to the Broadbeach precinct. Frankies Brasserie is intentionally uncomplicated, with chef Dylan Cashman delivering a concise one-page menu consisting of five entrees and five mains to service its core evening trade, while a brunch menu will be served from 11:00 am on weekends.
Provenance and seasonality are the drivers here – the menu, albeit succinct, is designed to create a connection between diners and local produce. The beef tataki, which is rolled in native pepper and served with pickled mustard, uses eye fillet cuts from Northern Rivers, the salted jewfish comes straight from Bundaberg, the organic charred leeks from Stanthorpe are served with Nimbin brown rice, and the braised lamb shoulder comes straight from New England in regional New South Wales. There’s also a spin on Parisian steak frites, which sees charcoal-grilled Darling Downs sirloin plated with hand-cut house fries and a quenelle of mushroom and seaweed butter. Frankies Brasserie boasts an all-Australian wine offering, with everything on its compact cellar list available by the glass.
