Flockd Espresso Bar sits at the front of boutique co-working space, Flockd – and while they share the same name and part of the same building, the espresso bar is a separate operation, set up to provide coffee, breakfast bites, sandwiches and sweets to caffeine-seeking locals (as well as the co-working folk at Flockd, who are pretty darn lucky to have this within arm’s reach). Bean blends by Blackboard Coffee Roasters are on pour, including an offering of daily filters, which you can enjoy inside on one of the wooden swings – yes, you can swing while you sip – or out in the sunshine on the dog-friendly picnic tables.

The cabinet of bites is lined with day starters like breakfast rolls, baked sweets and healthy treats, while those chasing a lunchtime bite can nibble sandwiches and wraps toasted to order. The Flockd cafe, which currently opens Monday to Friday from 7:00 am, is also armed with a small retail element, displaying a collection of gifts, eco-friendly cleaning products, candles and homewares.

The arrival of the cafe coincides with an impressive expansion of Flockd’s footprint – as you would have noticed when you were rubbernecking at the ‘coffee’ sign, the co-working facility now occupies pretty much the entire corner site that is bound by Lower Gold Coast Highway and Starling Street … and we hear there’s further expansion to come. Plus, locals and those who work in the West Burleigh area will also be pleased to learn that the Flockd team are planning to host regular street-food days, which will see some of your favourite food trucks parking up and slinging eats to curb those lunchtime cravings.
