Our pals in Brisbane are very familiar with El Camino’s vibrant neon-lit atmosphere, colour-dipped fit-outs and free unlimited corn chips through its venues in Bowen Hills and Chermside – even the fine folk of Byron Bay scored an El Camino of their own in May 2019. We’ve been waiting oh-so patiently here on the Gold Coast – and finally our time has come, with the coast’s first El Camino location confirmed for Robina Town Centre.
Taking over the Lord of the Wings space on lakeside dining strip The Promenade, the Robina incarnation of El Camino will feature the brand’s same eclectic, colourful fit-out, ablaze with neon lights and fluorescent signage, with a mammoth 280 seats sprawling inside and out. Diners can expect to experience a never-ending fiesta of eats, from giant nachos to soft-shell tacos, sizzling fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, buffalo wings and other classic Tex-Mex dishes, along with its signature series of margaritas, sangria, specialty cocktails and Mexican beers. El Camino owners, Rockpool Dining Group (also behind The Bavarian restaurants at Broadbeach, Coomera and Robina), anticipates the Robina Town Centre venue to open in late April or early May. We’ll give you a peek inside once the margaritas are pouring.
