We’ll save you the Google search – Doko Demo means ‘anywhere’ in Japanese. Oh, and the V stands for vegetarian. The name is reflective of its rather diverse and multicultural food offering, where you can find yourself munching on everything from footlong hot dogs with sauerkraut, pickles and mustard, to a piping-hot red-miso Asian noodle soup with bean-curd skin. For now Doko Demo V is serving breakfast and lunch daily, with a dinner trade (think vegetarian pastas, pizzas, cocktails and wine) to commence in coming weeks.
The all-day breakfast offering will see you choosing from dishes like the vibrant breakfast salad with raw kale, broccoli, avocado, apple, poached eggs and seeds, Spanish eggs with crusty pumpkin bread, and protein banana pancakes with Nutella, seasonal fruits and salted-caramel coconut ice-cream. When midday swings around, the menu expands with hearty burgers (where the meat is subbed out for soy-protein patties, mushroom and haloumi), gluten-free soft tacos, curries, salads and colourful poke bowls, with the majority of the dishes available in vegan and gluten-free variations. You’ll find Bare Bones coffee pouring as well as freshly squeezed juices, kombuchas and drinkable coconuts.
