Cluccboi is the brainchild of Stephen Kakoniktis, former manager of OTTO Brisbane, and tech guru Chris Withers. Originally schoolmates on the Gold Coast, the duo have banded back together to create what they’ve described as a ‘pandemic-proof’ concept. Despite launching amid the most difficult time the hospitality industry has ever faced, they have set out to dispense simple, top-quality comfort food to locals, without the operational costs of a bricks-and-mortar eatery. Cluccboi operates from Southport in Stephen and Chris’ newly launched collaborative ghost kitchen called Shadow Chef – fried-chicken slinging Cluccboi is the first brand to operate from the kitchen, and there are plans to launch and operate other concepts (Greek is on the cards) from the space in the coming months.
Cluccboi, which relies on third-party delivery services, will be available to order on Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Menulog from this Saturday July 25 – we scored a peek at the American-inspired menu head of its launch, and oh boi is it drool-worthy. You’ll be tucking into juicy fried chicken-thigh pieces and succulent wings (in six, 12 and 24 packs), or you can pull apart a whole fried chicken (The Mothercluccer), which arrives with classic waffle fries and sauces. The potato-bun Cluccburgers are lovingly sandwiched with a finger-licking thigh fillet, sweet-and-sour pickles, cheese and special Cluccboi sauce, while those not down for the bird can wrap their mitts around a fried cauliflower burger. The sides are just as enticing – think crispy chicken skins (known as Skinnybois), waffle fries, creamy slaw, house-made cornbread and a zingy pickle mix of onions, jalapenos and yellow peppers to cut through it all. If you can’t decide, the Looking Like a Snacc combo box will sort you out.
Cluccboi will be dishing up the goods from this Saturday July 25. Slide into its DMs over here.
