Spice up your life at the Chinderah Chilli Festival

Spice up your life at the Chinderah Chilli Festival

Fancy swigging on a cheeky chilli cider? How about slathering on some chilli chocolate lip balm or eating your body weight in extreme meatballs? If any or all of these sound like your ideal Saturday afternoon, head along to the inaugural Chinderah Chilli Festival on Saturday March 3.

If you break out in a sweat eating a mild curry, you may want to sit this one out. If however, your mantra is the hotter the better, well, rock right up for the first ever Chinderah Chilli Festival and enjoy an entire day dedicated to chilli in all its glorious forms. There will be over 50 chilli vendors and international food trucks dishing out fiery feasts, not even the ice-cream van is exempt! There will be tastings as well as a plethora of award-winning chilli products ranging from mild to XXXtra wild.

If you reckon you’ve got an iron stomach and can handle some serious heat, take part in the ominously named Seatonfire chilli chocolate challenge at 2:00 pm or perhaps the Extreme Meatball challenge at 3:00 pm. Be warned though, it’s definitely not for the faint hearted. Don’t believe us? To enter you need to sign a waiver, if that’s any indication of what’s to come. If you’ve overdone it and need a cool drink, seek reprieve at the bar with an ice-cold beer or perhaps the aforementioned chilli cider. If you love all things hot and spicy, the Chinderah Chilli Festival is guaranteed to be one you won’t forget in a hurry.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
