It’s been three-and-a-half years since Brio Emporium first enlightened us all with its flagship low-carb and full-fat cafe in Broadbeach. Over the years it has garnered quite the following from health-conscious foodies and ketogenic eaters – a natural progression that prompted owners Atlanta and Mark Fowler to scout the city for a second location. The latest Brio Emporium is nestled at the entrance to Treetops Plaza (the Bermuda Street side), which is currently in the midst of major works to create a new dining and retail hub. The new Burleigh space is effectively a much larger version of Broadbeach, dishing up a menu of gluten-free, refined-sugar free and anti-inflammatory cuisine – a haven for those that live a ketogenic (full-fat, low-carb) lifestyle.
You can fuel up in the morning with breakfast bowls brimming with the likes of dairy-free scrambled eggs, sauerkraut, spinach, cashew cheese and grass-fed brisket beef or savoury mince. Stick a fork into a protein bowl later in the day, served with a range of toppings like pork-belly in katsu sauce and free-range-pork chilli con carne. You’ll also find raw smoothie bowls (including banana-free options for those watching the fructose), satisfying ketogenic-friendly sweets like ice-cream sandwiches and, of course, the Insta-famous Fat Boy Sundaes, which are smothered with cookies, chocolate bars, paleo kibble and chocolate sauce. Drinkers of skinny caramel lattes are out of luck – you won’t find skim milk, soy or syrups here, but what you will find is bulletproof coffees (long black with ‘brain octane’ tonic and grass-fed butter), ‘functional lattes’ like turmeric and beetroot, as well as normal coffees (remember those?) made with full-fat milk.
Brio Emporium is open now! This Saturday August 18 the team are having an official opening, with half-price breakfast bowls and protein bowls all day!
