We’d be dirty little liars if we said we hadn’t (regularly) experienced lunch-time cravings for a four-cheese and jalapeno quesadilla and a Tommy margarita – but the reality that Bonita Bonita only opened for dinner brought us quickly back down to earth. Well, amigos, crave no more. The doors to Bonita Bonita now swing open from 11:00–2:30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for your taco-eating, cocktail-sipping pleasure.
The lunch menu is a scaled-back version of the full offering. To start, you can dunk some smoked-chilli salted tortilla chips into fresh guacamole, snack on the daily chimichanga or get your hands on a pair of the beef-cheek, cheese and habanero empanadas. The Bonita burritos make an appearance (the crispy chicken with cilantro creama is a great vibe), alongside a bunch of crowd-favourite share plates like the Bonita nachos and the charred-corn salad with pickled onions and pequillo peppers. Any spread at Bonita Bonita isn’t complete without tacos – all of the classics like the chipotle-braised beef and crispy fish varieties are on the lunch menu, but be sure to save room for the Coconut Banana Frito with sangria jam, raspberry popping candy and coconut ice-cream. Consider this weekend’s lunch officially sorted.
