Blackboard is making instant coffee cool again with its nifty new tin of freeze-dried happiness

Whether you love a simple latte or are a self-confessed coffee connoisseur, chances are you'd scoff at the thought of drinking instant coffee. Well, dear readers, as Bob Dylan once mused, the times they are a-changin' because Blackboard Coffee Roasters has gone and made instant coffee cool again. Yes, really.

Look, if we learnt anything from the resurgence of scrunchies, it’s never say never and truth be told, we’re not talking about that dodgy old tin of International Roast your grandma digs out every time you visit. Blackboard has taken 10 of their own brews and freeze-dried them to create tins of instant specialty coffee. Still sceptical? Blackboard’s owner and chief coffee drinker Nick Pearce was too – but then he tried it for himself.

Blackboard’s Instant Specialty Coffee is housed in an aluminium tin to reduce the need for single serve packaging and is perfect for camping, flying, at the office – basically anywhere you want a tasty brew but can’t get the real deal. The best part? It works out to be $2 a cup, which is pretty damn reasonable for a cafe-quality coffee. One teaspoon is equivalent to one shot and can be enjoyed as an espresso, long black, latte, ice coffee, cold brew or even as an espresso martini, if that’s your thing. Blackboard’s Instant Specialty Coffee is available online now or at Blackboard in Varsity Lakes.
