Bittersweet Coffee rolls up its doors in Palm Beach

Weekend shoppers at popular Palm Beach homewares stores Small Stall and Mabels can now enjoy a fresh brew as they browse, following the opening of Bittersweet Coffee.

What is it about weekend coffee that tastes better than weekday coffee? Perhaps, it isn’t the coffee at all but the way you perceive that coffee. During the week, it’s meant as a vital pick-me-up to get through the day whereas on weekends, the act of drinking coffee becomes somewhat of a ritual, a pursuit to be savoured and enjoyed. The weekend coffee is an experience that may be accompanied by the paper or a mosey around some shops. Bittersweet Coffee is all about this weekend experience, only opening from Friday through to Monday.

Tucked away beneath a Jacaranda tree fronting the Gold Coast Highway, Bittersweet Coffee is a surprising pocket of calm against the bustle of the city. The hole-in-the-wall space is the realisation of a dream for owners Gabriel and Elly who were inspired to create a place for people to grab a weekend coffee and enjoy a chilled vibe.

There’s nothing bitter about Palm Beach’s new addition, on the contrary, Bittersweet Cafe serves Blackboard Coffee as well as a few takeaway goodies including pastries and some savoury options on weekends. The ladies are no strangers to a good brew as Gabriel and her husband also make Folk Coffee, the handcrafted organic cold brew that you may have seen getting around the Burleigh Farmers Markets from time to time. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
