It’s time for sips, sunshine and saganaki at the all-new Bar Hellenika

The final stage of the multi-million-dollar transformation of Greek eatery Hellenika has finally been unveiled – friends, meet Bar Hellenika. The impressive rooftop space, located directly above the iconic 110-seat Nobby Beach restaurant, officially opens to the public tonight (Monday March 26). Get set for Greek wine, lots of sunshine and all of the zucchini chips.

Yep, it’s been a big week for Hellenika‘s owner Simon Gloftis, who is fresh off the back of opening his coveted new dining space and lounge bar, Nineteen at The Star, in conjunction with entertainment guru Billy Cross. The opening of Bar Hellenika marks an exciting end to the impressive transformation of the double-storey Hellenika site in Nobby Beach, with both the restaurant and rooftop bar now up and running. To the right of the restaurant entry, there’s a glorious all-white stairwell – kind of like something you’d see in the streets of Santorini – and at the top you’ll find the sun-kissed rooftop that is now Bar Hellenika.

Hellenika’s mezze menu will be available on the rooftop, meaning you can snack on everything from the grilled octopus and the flash-fried calamari, to the veal dolmades and everybody’s favourite – the zucchini chips with kefalograviera cheese. As you’d expect, the bar offering features a well-curated series of wines with a shine toward Greek varietals. There’s also tapped and bottled beer and a selection of classic cocktails – the Georgy M with gin, Aperol, vanilla, lemon and almond essence is a great place to start. While there’s plenty of sunshine to soak up, there’s also a (very fancy) retractable roof that makes this a rooftop a hot spot for all seasons.

Bar Hellenika is now open! Keen to check it out? Head to our Stumble Guide for opening times and contact info.
