Thirsty work – Balter Brewing Co. raises the roof with a massive brewery expansion

Iconic Gold Coast craft-beer outfit Balter Brewing Co. is about to triple in size, with the final stages of construction underway on its brewing facility in Currumbin. The expansion, which is due to be complete in early September, was prompted by a simple reality – we were all downing their tinnies so quickly they couldn't keep up.

Let’s throw some numbers at you to put it in perspective. Balter’s brewery space on Traders Way will grow from 1100sqm to around 3300sqm, and the roof will be raised from six metres to ten. In a nutshell, it’s going to be massive. Sure, it means more room for activities, but it’s more about creating space for a damn fancy new canning line and four new 30,000-litre tanks.

It’s a helluva lot of work, but when it’s all done and dusted it means the Balter team will be able to produce enough beer to keep us thirsty folk hydrated this summer. The works haven’t interrupted the Balter Tap Room though – you can well and truly still hang out there and sink a few from Thursday to Sunday as per usual. Keep an eye on Balter’s social for updates on the brewery works.
