Nosh on noodles boxes and banh mi with Ally Chow’s new lunchtime offering

Those of you obsessed with the baos, dumplings and delicious Asian fare dished up at Nobby Beach eatery Ally Chow can do a little happy dance – it's now serving weekday lunches. A brand-new daytime menu has launched this week, dotted with local favourites as well as new additions like noodle boxes, bento boxes and crunchy Vietnamese banh mi rolls.

Since it first graced Nobby Beach with its presence in January this year, Ally Chow has been filling the bellies of locals with its tasty Asian-fusion eats that touch on a mixture of Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines. Ally Chow has always served dinner and weekend lunches, but chef and owner Trent Scarr has decided to venture into grab-and-go lunch eats for locals wanting a quick and tasty midday munch during the week.

The new lunch menu features banh mi (traditional Vietnamese sandwiches) with pork belly or soft-shell crab, jammed with pate, pickled vegetables and chilli. There’s also a new take on Japanese-style bento boxes featuring portions like soy-braised pork belly, kingfish sashimi, scallops with Chinese sausage and tempura mushrooms. You can also munch on a selection of tasty baos, as well as noodle boxes like stir-fried rice noodles with sirloin beef, and egg noodles with chicken thighs and crispy chicken skin. Plus, it’s all available eat in or takeaway. Banh mi for the road? Heck yes!

Bonus round – Ally Chow is celebrating its new lunch offering by giving away 50 free banh mi rolls this Tuesday November 13 between 12:00–3:00 pm (one per customer). That’s right – free.banh.mi.
