Fortunately for all of us, while Aprés Surf was forced to vacate its original premises, it’s certainly not the end of the road. The owners plan to open a new venue when things are a little less Doomsday-ish, but in the meantime they are kindly returning to Mermaid Beach to curb our cravings and keep the spirits high with a weekly pop-up to sling a mixed tape of Aprés’ best bites and sips.

You’ll find Aprés Surf at Alfred’s Diner every Tuesday evening (with Saturdays soon to be added) armed with a menu of rotating favourites. The famed burgers (beef and bacon cheeseburger, oh how we’ve missed you) are a mainstay served alongside its OG chicken parmy (still just $10), saucy buffalo wings and highly addictive seasoned fries. The menu will chop and change with tasty hybrids like the nasi goreng burrito making an occasional appearance, plus the team has also debuted an indulgent plant-based burger, loaded with cheese, not-bacon, mayo and ketchup atop a vegan milk bun, which will be a regular fixture. As for booze, the Aprés pop-up will be dishing out tinnies of beer and cider, and pouring a bunch of its signature cocktails and spritzes including a refreshing limoncello spritz and a warming spiced mulled wine.
