Finger-lickin’ good – get acquainted with Southport’s new fried-chicken joint

When it comes to fried chicken, there tends to be two kinds of people – those that could take it or leave it and those that wholeheartedly believe it to be a transcendent culinary experience. We'll just come right out and say that we are firmly in the latter category, which could explain why we are so excited about Southport's new fried-chicken slinger, 2 Bros. It officially opens this Saturday February 6 and here's everything you need to know about this naughty newcomer ...

The words ‘we don’t cluck around’ adorn the side wall and friends, they aren’t lying. 2 Bros is like Disneyland for fried-chicken fiends, boasting a menu conveniently categorised into Seed (small bites) and Feed (bigger bites) with a break-out section for burgers – all seven of them, alongside wraps and sides. The antibiotic- and hormone-free bird is delivered fresh daily before being generously coated in the venue’s own dry rub, which is made in-house in original, hot, really hot and scorchin’ (go on, you can handle it). Start your finger-lickin’ feast with a serve of Bro Bites, which are essentially tiny parcels of deep-fried happiness, before sinking your teeth into a hefty serve of chicken and waffles smothered with Canadian maple syrup (drool!). The burgers range from crowd-pleasers such as The Original (crispy chicken, lettuce, American cheese, pickles and lashings of special sauce), through to the food-coma inducing Triple Double (two spicy fried-chicken pieces, Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, American cheese and Nashville spiced sauce). Meat-free mates aren’t left out in the cold as there’s a 2 Bros Vegan burger, which is loaded with a brown rice, quinoa and vegetable patty, and health-conscious folk can get their mitts around the Big Bro wrap with grilled chicken. Wash it down with a Hershey’s milkshake and you, my friend, have yourself a feast fit for a king or queen.

2 Bros is the handiwork of Abdur and Abdullah and is inspired by their collective experience living and studying in far-flung parts of the world (remember travel?). The brothers were drawn to the Gold Coast for its vibrant energy and beach culture, which is reflected in the delightfully bright and cheerful yellow and blue interior. The casual eatery is located on the corner of Ferry Road and Meron Street in Southport and offers spacious seating inside and out. What are you waiting for? Get a cluckin’ move on.

2 Bros officially opens on Saturday February 6 and will be slinging a free piece of original wing with any purchase. You know where to find us. Roll over to our Stumble Guide for opening times.
