Get ready for a whole new dimension coming to this year’s BLEACH* Festival, with the addition of three nights of experiential feasts set against the backdrop of Burleigh Heads. With a different theme for each evening, this is your chance to explore the offerings of some very special culinary wizards and to connect with your community while doing so.
The FEAST WITH US trilogy features three themes, kicking off with the First Night Feast on August 12 hosted by First Nations chefs Aunty Dale Chapman from My Dilly Bag and Chris Jordan from Three Little Birds. Sharing with attendees a wealth of knowledge paired with both foraged ingredients and those grown by Aboriginal communities, this is your chance to experience the flavours of the land and to discover the cultural connections that they come with.
On August 13, discover Global Sufra hosted by home cooks from the Multicultural Families Organisation who are migrants and refugees that are now living on the Gold Coast. This instalment of FEAST WITH US will see women from Eritrea, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Bosnia share the delicious recipes of their cultures to be enjoyed together around the table. With a diverse array of cultural delights on offer, the feast promises to not only be be fresh, exciting and delicious but an opportunity to connect with others in the community while you are united over an enjoyment of food.
To round out the BLEACH* Festival culinary line-up, catch From the Sea hosted by chef Brenda Fawdon from Picnic Real Food Bar. Aptly named, this feast will feature the culinary delights of the ocean teamed with locally grown and seasonal produce from the vibrant Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley areas. With a focus on line-caught and sustainable catches, From the Sea will showcase the abundant offerings of our local area and offer a chance to connect with those around us.
