Energies 2018 profiles artwork from senior secondary schools across the Gold Coast, providing for many students their first opportunity to be represented within a gallery. The exhibition is known for exploring the issues important to younger generations such as body image, sexuality, psychology, environmental awareness and consumerism.
Artworks equally celebrate the diversity of technique and style being taught on the Gold Coast, as students are encouraged to experiment with materiality and try new forms of media. Like previous exhibitions, this year will contain a broad range of approaches including painting, installation, sculpture, drawing and digital.
Artists are selected by visual arts teachers from participating schools both state and non-state, however school affiliation is not identified within the exhibition space to provide a non-competition environment.
