In celebration of Earth Hour, HOTA and the Global Orchestra Foundation brings you the second-ever Concert for the Planet, an evening of musical discovery and unparalleled symphonic experience. Roll out a rug under the stars and settle in as the venue’s brand new Outdoor Stage is transformed into a classical music soundscape. The Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, which includes over 100 local musicians, will perform Holst’s The Planets under the watchful eye and ear of conductor Lachlan Snow.
This spectacular concert will be live-streamed globally, enabling musicians and communities anywhere around the world to play along together. This year, HOTA has partnered with the Global Orchestra Foundation in a commitment to make positive change for our future. To participate from afar, simply join the Global Orchestra here.
The event will bring HOTA to life from 5:00 pm, with a series of sustainable and environmentally conscious arts and community stalls, alongside visual art installations by local artists Clayton Blake and Guy Cooper – and you’re invited to join in on the fun with interactive activities like dancing, drumming, children’s activities and more!
The concert will kick off at 7:30 pm and will conclude at the start of Earth Hour (8:30 pm Queensland time) when the lights will be dimmed, so be sure to pack a torch! In the spirit of Earth Hour, attendees are asked to bring their own reusable water bottle and utilise the free water stations throughout the venue, and are also encouraged to use public transport to get to the event.
