Escape isolation and catch a flick this Labour Day long weekend at Yatala Drive-In

Escape isolation and catch a flick this Labour Day long weekend at Yatala Drive-In

If you've grown weary of Netflix constantly judging your viewing habits by asking if you're still watching – it's time to switch off the television, don your glad rags (or you know, clean tracksuit, same same) and pile into the car because Yatala Drive-In is reopening its doors this Labour Day long weekend (Saturday May 2 to Monday May 4) with some strict social distancing measures in place.

If you’ve been missing the smell of freshly cooked popcorn, the experience of watching a movie on the big screen or just leaving the house in general, get excited because Yatala Drive-In is back, baby! Well, kind of. To abide by the current social distancing requirements, things will look a little different from previous visits but an outing is an outing right? Firstly, instead of a double feature there will only be one movie in each session in an effort to limit the need to use restrooms (although they are available for emergencies and will be sanitised after each use) and the parking will be reduced to about 50-percent capacity. Movie-goers are also required to remain inside their vehicles at all times, with the exception of trips to the candy bar (which is also operating on a very limited capacity). The 50-kilometre rule still applies here and you can only attend with people you currently live with or one person who does not live with you and last but not least, tickets must be pre-purchased for $35 per car and there is a limit of six people per vehicle.

So, what’s on? Well, first up there’s The Invisible Man, an unsettling thriller starring Aldis Hodge, Storm Reid and Elisabeth Moss, a Vin Diesel blockbuster called Bloodshot, which is based on the best-selling comic, and taking you back to your childhood is Sonic The Hedgehog featuring Adam Pally, Jim Carrey and James Marsden. Tickets to a number of sessions have already sold-out so if you’re keen to head along, we strongly suggest you jump over here post-haste!
