Given the shortage of Japanese whiskies in the world right now, you can consider this event a very special opportunity to experience some of the best whiskies to come out of Japan, with six of Nikka’s best drops being showcased on the night. While the menu is being kept under wraps, we’ve managed to get a snippet to give you a taste. Decadent Tajima wagyu with a 9+ marble score will be used across the courses, set to start with wagyu tartare on crispy rice with an oyster-cream caviar, and finish with an indulgent whisky-infused dessert.
Each course will be paired with Nikka whisky, served neat or over hand-cut ice – we’re also told the whisky will be ‘fat washed’ with wagyu by the bar team to create the base of delicious cocktails. Nikka’s own whisky wizard Kevin Griffen will be on hand pouring whiskies and stepping you through each pairing to school you while you sip. The Whisky and Wagyu Dinner kicks off at 6:30 pm on Thursday August 29. Seats are $99 per person, including six courses matched with Nikka whisky. Those keen to experience the best bits of Japan in one delicious evening can book their spot by phoning Etsu on 07 5526 0944 or emailing the team.
