Live your best life. Now, that's a set of words that are thrown around a lot these days, but how many of us actually do live our best lives? When the time comes that you stumble across your significant other, you're kind of expected to settle down, buy a house, save whatever little money is left after mortgage repayments and, you know, just generally scale back our lives completely to prepare for the future. Sound familiar? Well, the folks at Smith Collective, the coast's revolutionary new rental community, want to flip the script on 'adulting' for couples. We're in the know (it's our job), so Smith Collective teamed up with yours truly to let you know all about the best upcoming events and must-do foodie experiences across the Gold Coast. Forget Netflix and toasties on the couch – this is how you do it.

Foodie fun
We all know the path to happiness is through our stomachs. It’s true. Fill up your social calendar with must-do foodie events like Friday Night Bites (hellooo German hotdogs, cronuts and beer) happening on November 9, November 23 and December 7. the coast’s own Dessert Festival on the evening of Saturday November 10, the Broadbeach Big Picnic on the Green on Saturday November 17, followed by the Sugar and Spice Cocktail Festival that night. Disclaimer – stretchy pants are advised. When it comes to eating out, we’re all creatures of habit. So, make it your mission to shake up your date nights and try places you have never been before. Must-try newcomers like Restaurant LabartJafaMr Hizola’s, Aviary Rooftop Bar, Gotham Grill and Rooftop Bar, and the new Rick Shores (oh hey there, katsu beef roll) are a good place to start – hit up the Stumble Guide for plenty more. Another dining to-do list is experiencing the coast’s hatted restaurants from the recent Good Food Guide 2019 Awards. Plus, you can (and should) mix up your next breakfast dates by ticking new places like Mr Buttergoods, The Milkman’s Daughter and Stable Coffee & Kitchen off your hit list.

Live music
If beats are just as important to you as eats (can we be friends?) then prepare to treat your earholes – there are so many amazing live acts coming our way. HOLY HOLY hits Miami Marketta on Friday November 23, before Shakafest takes over Broadwater Parklands in Southport on Saturday November 24 with names like Bliss N Eso, Frenzal Rhomb and Alex the Astronaut. Step back in time on Friday December 7 with the unmissable Ministry of Sound: Orchestrated, which will see a live symphony orchestra light up HOTA’s outdoor stage with reimagined versions of tracks by Sam Sparrow, Fatboy Slim, Moby, Eric Prydz and more! Gold Coast house-music icon Fisher will up the ante (big time) with a limited-capacity NightQuarter show on Saturday December 8, while electro-pop queen Vera Blue will take the stage at Miami Marketta on Thursday December 13. Wrap up the year that was and have a killer night with Dune Rats, DZ Deathrays and more at NightQuarter’s massive BEST NIGHT EVER concert on Saturday December 29.

Arts and Culture
This is the part where you spice it up. Do something different. Break up the weekly routine. When was the last time you both sung karaoke, went to a local art exhibition or treated yourselves to a day-spa experience? For your next date night, why not head along to one of the Life Drawing Sessions at HOTA (every second Thursday of the month, and wine is involved), or book yourselves in for a course at dreamy POT Studios. Gather the crew and head along for a night of fun and frivolity at Drag Queen Bingo at Miami Marketta or test your brains with weekly laneway trivia sessions every Thursday Southport’s historical bar Mr PP’s. Go forth and live it up, pals.
