Meet twin lambs, have a picnic with alpacas and pluck produce on the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail

Producers, growers and makers in the Scenic Rim will once again be welcoming visitors with open arms for the final Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail of the year. On Saturday August 26, jump in the car (with an empty Esky) and roll through the picturesque Scenic Rim to eat, see and experience the best of our backyard.

This month’s Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail will see 26 different farmers, growers, producers, winemakers, brewers, distillers and flavour-makers open their doors and gates to the public to celebrate and showcase Scenic Rim produce and the people behind it. All you need to do is follow the Farm Gate Trail Map and start exploring. You can hang with Jersey cows, feed the piglets and stock up on dairy produce (like the famous Jersey Girl ice-creams) at the sixth-generation Tommerup’s Dairy Farm, get a haul of the essentials like avocados and pumpkin from Kerry Valley’s White’s Farm, and chat to beekeepers before grabbing jars of golden gooey goodness from Bee All Natural.

Make a stop at Australia’s largest camel dairy, Summer Land Camels, for farm tours, camel feeding and rides, and to enjoy fresh-as-it-gets samples of its award-winning products – from camel fetta to camel-milk and honey vodka. Speaking of sips, you can also stop by the Barney Creek Vineyard Cottages (which only opens five months of the year) for free wine tastings, and check out the prohibition-inspired bar at Cauldron Estate and Distillery to sample locally made spirits. Cheese fiends can stock up on their favourite fromage at Towri Sheep Cheeses, meet Hercules the racing sheep and pat a pair of twin lambs while soaking up picture-perfect views over the 300-acre estate. Once you’ve filled your Eskies along the way, head to Mountview Alpaca Farm and enjoy a picnic along the creek – with a $10 wine-tasting paddle.

Ready to fill your fridge and your stomach with Scenic Rim culinary delights on Saturday August 26? Head to the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail website for more information and to map out your drive!
