The world’s best male and female surfers have hit our shores to kick off the first leg of the World Surf League (WSL) World Championship Tour, which is being held from April 3–13 (well, it depends on the conditions, but that’s the window of time!). Coolangatta will be buzzing as the best of the best battle it out on one of the world’s most iconic right-hand surf breaks, Snapper Rocks. It all happens just a few metres from the sand – it’s a really unique spectacle. Whether you’re into surfing or not, make sure you get down there to soak up a slice of the action.
What’s even cooler is that The Drop music festival will add even more hype to the precinct, bringing the likes of brother-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone, electric-dance duo Client Liaison, surf rockers Hockey Dad, The Jungle Giants and the great Alex the Astronaut to Elizabeth Park in Coolangatta on Saturday April 6. Guys and gals, this is going to be big – the spotlight is firmly on the Gold Coast so head down there, get your feet in the sand and get amongst it!
