Mum’s the word – ace Mother’s Day with our round-up of the coast’s best events

Mother's Day is fast approaching (Sunday May 12, for those who need a little nudge), and if you're keen to treat the leading lady in your life – whether that be your mum, grandma or someone else deserving of a little bit of appreciation – we've done the hard yards to round up a few options. From fancy feasts to pretty picnics, you can thank us later when you're crowned the favourite child.

The Star Gold Coast: When it comes to celebrations, The Star has got it down to a fine art. This year, there are plenty of Mother’s Day offers across the range of its restaurants (as well as the day spa!), so you can be sure there will be something to suit every mum’s dining preferences. For the Italian-loving long lunch kind of gals, Cucina Vivo is rolling out a three-course shared menu with a glass of Chandon on arrival, while Garden Kitchen & Bar is putting on the seafood spread with a complimentary glass of Domaine Chandon when you order one of the venue’s signature seafood platters. If Asian is her cuisine of choice, she’s got plenty to choose from with Kiyomi and Uncle Su both pouring a glass of bubbles for mum when you order from the set menus. Harvest Buffet is the perfect option for those indecisive mums that might want a little bit of everything. If you want to spoil your mum with a little bit of extra love, we recommend booking her in for a special Azure Spa & Fitness experience during the month of May. To book any of the above experiences, head to The Star Gold Coast’s website.

QT Gold Coast: QT is synonymous for luxe events and splendour-filled soirees, and this Mother’s Day they’ve gone all out to ensure your Mum is treated like an absolute Queen. For the sweet tooth mums, FIXX Cafe is offering an elevated QTea High Tea filled with bite-sized seasonal delights and moreish morsels. Brunch lovers should make a beeline for Bazaar for its Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch, where she can feast on fried chicken and waffles, house-made croissants and a live crepe station. For a sweet finale, the chocolate fondue station will be overflowing with sugar-coated delights. For something different, shake up your usual Mother’s Day soiree  for a mixology masterclass at Stingray where she can learn the art of mixing and fixing taste-bud tingling cocktails. Learn more here.

The Langham, Gold Coast: If your leading lady has a taste for the finer things in life, we’ve got just the thing. Luxury destination The Langham, Gold Coast has just announced its newest luxury afternoon tea partnership with international fashion and beauty house, Carolina Herrera. The exclusive Carolina Herrera afternoon tea will celebrate the launch of Good Girl Blush Elixir, the brand’s latest fragrance, and include a collection of Carolina Herrera-inspired delicacies, meticulously crafted to encapsulate the essence of the house’s most loved feminine elixir. The Carolina Herrera afternoon tea will be available from Mother’s Day until the end of June in the stunning Palm Court. To find out more or to book the lavish afternoon tea, jump over here.

Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort: Catch ups are better when they involve tiny sweets and treats, that’s a fact (according to us, anyway). This Mother’s Day, celebrate the special ladies in your life with an elegant high tea in the sun-filled Cove Café on Saturday May 11 and Sunday May 12. Indulge in three elegant tiers of sweet and savoury items alongside house-baked scones and an artisanal brew from luxurious teamakers, Tea Forté. Each adult guest will be treated to a glass of rosé sparkling wine, tea and coffee. Make a reservation here.

O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard: If rolling out a rug by the creek and grazing your way through the afternoon with wine and live tunes, get along to O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard. This year, the celebrations are spread across two glorious days, with Saturday May 11 featuring the smooth jazz, funk and soul of Jake Meywes & Band, and Sunday May 12 delivering some banger musical theatre classics and show tunes courtesy of D&G Popera at the Vineyard. Hot tip, prebook your picnic basket so all you have to do is roll out the rug and you’re ready to feast. To grab your ticket, head to the Eventbrite website.

Baby Give Back: On Saturday May 25, Baby Give Back is hosting its annual Mother’s Day High Tea fundraiser. Presented by Makeup Cartel (esmi Skin Minerals, PONi Cosmetics and Lip Heroes) and hosted by Emily Jade O’Keeffe and Giaan Rooney, gather the gals (and guys) to enjoy an afternoon of bubbles, food, amazing prizes and an exciting fashion parade by Proud Poppy Clothing and Everi-Body Agency. The event is to raise much-needed funds to provide every child with a safe and equal start to life. Tickets are strictly limited, so be sure to book early.

Miss Moneypenny’s: There will be Mumm for Mum at this Broadbeach fine diner. Book for lunch or dinner on Mother’s Day and she’ll receive a glass on arrival, or go all out with a bottle for the table, just be sure to select the upgrade when booking. For those who enjoy the freedom of choosing, there’s a delightful a la carte option as well as Miss Moneypenny’s famous Bottomless Brunch featuring a three-course menu for $110 per person.

The Island: With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to spoil her and say thank you for being fabulous! Whether mum loves a sophisticated spread, a casual affair, or stylish soiree, The Island has got you covered with a range of top-notch experiences to make her feel special. Treat Mum to a bountiful buffet at The Glasshouse, where one lucky mum will walk away with a G.H. Mumm pamper pack. If your leading lady is partial to a tipple, perhaps the Rooftop Bottomless Brunch is more her vibe. Indulge in three incredible courses over two hours with the option to include a drinks package. To make a booking, hop over here.

JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa: Whether you’re keen for long, lobster-filled lunches, a high tea or a day-spa day, JW Marriott invites you to honour the incredible woman/women in your life with a celebration like no other. This year, Citrique is offering an unforgettable Mother’s Day Long Lunch, taking indulgence to new heights with a complimentary half lobster for each guest. Among the oceanic delights are freshly shucked oysters, Mooloolaba tiger prawns, spanner crabs and Moreton Bay bugs, to name just a few. Those looking to elevate their experience even further, Citrique’s Mini Martini Indulgence is not to be missed. Sip on expertly crafted mini martinis brewed with Wild Flower gin, perfectly complementing the flavours of the seafood buffet. To book head here. Meanwhile, over at Chapter and Verse, treat mum to an afternoon of delight with an array of sweet and savoury treats at the venue’s special Mother’s Day High Tea. The experience is accompanied by a selection of teas and coffee as well as a complimentary glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne. To book head here. If you really want to go above and beyond to show your appreciation, gift her a day of pure relaxation and rejuvenation with Spa by JW’s exclusive Mother’s Day Bliss Package. This package has been carefully curated and designed to pamper her from head to toe, leaving mum feeling truly cherished and relaxed.

Aviary Rooftop Bar: Sip and snack the day away perched in Aviary Rooftop Bar. The venue’s high tea is a feast for the senses, with towers brimming with salivation-inducing eats like flaky pastries, petit croissants, French macarons, and so much more. If dainty sandwiches aren’t your style, there’s a seriously mouth-watering array of authentic Italian pizzas that are guaranteed to hit the spot. You won’t be thirsty with two different packages on offer, the French Fashionista package for $55 per person featuring French rosé or sparkling rosé or the Fancy Frenchie, which for $85 includes the deluxe package of both French champagne and a French martini. Meanwhile, over at Southport Sharks, mums are invited to enjoy a delectable buffet breakfast filled with all of the good things including bacon and bottomless coffee. Plus, all mothers dining at Southport Sharks will be given a complimentary glass of sparkling from 9:00 am, and there’s a special hamper up for grabs in the Mother’s Day raffle. For those who prefer to sleep in, there’s also a buffet lunch and a dinner. Make a booking here.

Imperial Hotel: Treat mum to a luxurious Mother’s Day high tea or a brunch and lunch buffet at the Imperial Hotel. The high tea is available at either 11:00 am or 1:00 pm and will include a glass of French champagne along with sweet and savoury delights served in the Imperial Hotel’s stunning foyer bar, Le Jardin. Adults $99 and children $30. The brunch and lunch buffet, running from 12:00–3:00 pm, will offer your favourite brunch classics such as eggs Benedict, French toast and croissants as well as a lavish selection of the finest seafood, salads, roast meats and hand made desserts. Adults $159 and children $79.50.

Mother’s Day Classic: If your mama is the active type, lace up your runners and get moving for the Mother’s Day Classic event. There’s a 4-km and an 8-km option. Every year, thousands of Australians come together on Mother’s Day to start their day with purpose. The event is to celebrate and remember those touched by breast and ovarian cancer and to raise life-saving funds for research. If you’re keen to run, register here.

The Oasis Broadbeach: As always, The Oasis Broadbeach is sweetening the deal with offers to spoil your Mum this Mother’s Day. Marg-loving mums, make haste to California Tacos and sip a complimentary margarita, or pop in to The Loose Moose for a mimosa. Grand Dynasty is offering a complimentary glass of champagne to enjoy with her yum cha. Harajuku Gyoza is offering a free house wine or selected cocktail with any booking made directly – just add MUMS#1 in the booking notes, and Madison’s Café & Patisserie is treating every mum to a complimentary glass of wine. Spice Kitchen and Bar is stepping it up a notch with a bottle of selected wine. Simply dine from May 1 to May 12 and spend a minimum of $100 to qualify. If your mum is in need of a little R&R, book the Indulgence Package for $195 (valued at $260) where she can enjoy a 45-minute infrared sauna, a magnesium float, a wash and blow dry followed by a professional manicure. Last but not least, for the big kid mums, let loose at Level Up, where mums get one hour of free play with a $20 spend.

The Strand: One day is hardly enough to celebrate your darling mother. Luckily, The Strand shares this sentiment and is hosting an entire month of mum. Invite her to connect with her creative side with a Resin Art Workshop or Flower And Paint Art Workshop, shake things up with a Tequila Cocktail Class featuring Tequila Soldada on Saturday May 18., or if gin is her drink of choice, the Brookie’s Gin Cocktail Class on Sunday May 19. You can sign up for any of these events with a simple $5 donation that goes towards The Sanctuary Women, Children and Pet’s Refuge which provides safety, healing, and hope to survivors of domestic violence.

Set out on an art-filled roadtrip: Sure, gifts are great and all, but we think quality time is what she really wants. This year’s Mother’s Day aligns perfectly with the Murwillumbah Arts Trail, where you can journey through the creative heart of the Tweed region and pick up some Mother’s Day delights along the way. Day-trippers can follow the Murwillimbah Arts Trail map for a self-guided tour of open studios before finding a spot for lunch. Our pick? Husk for an Ink Gin and charcuterie delights. Those who are keen to keep their Mother’s Day active can tackle the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and spy sculptures on the way. Read more about the Murwillumbah Arts Trail here.

Swoon over Nick Cave: If your mum has impeccable music taste and loves a bit of Nick Cave, get along to The Star’s theatre to see his solo shows accompanied by Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood on bass guitar. There’s only a handful of tickets left, so best get in quick.

Soak the day away: If your mum is down for a soak session to really relax and unwind, check out a few of our favourite day spas and bathhouses dotted around the Gold Coast and surrounds. Hot tip, they tend to book out well in advance, so if you’re keen to treat mum, you might want to book soon!

Elements of Byron: If you’re up for a little adventure this Mother’s Day, Elements of Byron promises a day of opulence and celebration for mothers and their loved ones with a lavish high tea experience. Set against the backdrop of the enchanting Azure Terrace, guests will be treated to a lavish spread featuring traditional delights such as freshly baked scones, delicate finger sandwiches and an array of sweet and savoury treats meticulously prepared in-house by the talented team. Adding to the splendour of the occasion, guests will enjoy live musical entertainment throughout the afternoon as well as the opportunity to elevate their experience with special beverage selections including Louis Roederer champagne.

Three Blue Ducks: If a stroll around The Farm sounds like her ideal Mother’s Day vibe, Three Blue Ducks is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Mother’s Day. Choose from their a la carte menu, opt for the set Feed Me menu for $70 per person, or treat Mum to The Ducks famous Sunday Roast available from 4:30 pm. There will also be live jazz from 1:30–4:30 pm and an acoustic set later in the day. All Mums who dine for lunch or dinner will also be gifted a free Three Blue Ducks x Mem Prosecco to take home. Mem Hemmings is the Three Blue Ducks beverage director turned winemaker, so you know it’s a good drop.

Kirra Beach House: For the foodie mums, celebrate Mother’s Day in seaside paradise with sensational views and brews. Mums will enjoy a Champagne Pina Colada for any lunch or dinner booking.

Crafty’s: If your mum isn’t much for high tea and would prefer her day enjoying a meal with her nearest and dearest, Crafty’s at Harbour Town has you covered. Mum will enjoy a complimentary  glass of bubbles with any lunch or dinner booking.

Mozza Mozza: Nothing says ‘I love you and appreciate you, mum’ quite like a pizza and pasta induced food coma. If you concur, celebrate Mumma Mia at Mozza Mozza this Mother’s Day where mums will receive a glass of prosecco with any lunch or dinner booking.

Bird RoyaleThis one is for the low-key mamas that are keen to celebrate at home (or the park, or beach). Southport’s Bird Royale has compiled a Mother’s Day catering breakfast box, which contains mini pan au chocalat, fresh fruit, yoghurt and granola, croissants, HVST ST cold pressed juice and a St ALI iced latte for just $60. For those who prefer to dine in, there’s a Mother’s day lunch or dinner deal for two including two large salad chicken bowls, two chocolate mousse with raspberries for dessert and your choice of drink for $50.
