From puppy parties to winter feasts – five unmissable events happening on the Gold Coast this June

With these cooler days and nights, it's mighty tempting to snuggle up in a blanket cocoon and go on a Netflix binge – but the coast’s event calendar has other plans in store for you. There’s plenty going on throughout June, from 90s masquerade-ball rock shows to bottomless brunches and puppy-themed plant markets. So, we've hand picked five of the best events happening on the Gold Coast this June. Diaries at the ready!

Young Hearts Run Free at HOTA, June 1
We’ve all sung out Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet scores at the top of our lungs, and now you can experience the iconic soundtrack performed live at HOTA’s Outdoor Stage. Sing along to hits from The Cardigans, Radiohead and Everclear as you truly unleash your inner teen angst – it’s good for the soul! Throw on your finest (or trashiest) masquerade get up and get ready to party the night away to hits from one of the finest eras of our time.

Bottomless Brunch at Aviary Rooftop Bar, June 8
What’s better than weekend brunch? A bottomless weekend brunch, of course. That’s right, Aviary Rooftop Bar’s popular Bottomless Brunch event is back in June with all of the trimmings. We’re talking free-flowing Prosecco, a full brunch spread including croque madame pizzas and of course, custom spritzes! It’s winter, so that means your summer body can wait.

Cooly Rocks On, June 5–9
Cooly Rocks On is a Gold Coast icon and for good reason. Of course, the beautiful cars are what lures in the crowd, but there is so much more to this four-wheeler rock ‘n’ roll festival. Head on down to the Coolangatta beachfront and be taken right back to the 50s with rockabilly and swing entertainment, heaps of dance displays, a Poodles and Pug Parade (cute), and the signature Cooly Rocks On Street Car Parade and so much more!

Burleigh Winter Solstice Festival, June 22
This year, Burleigh is getting into the spirit of winter with its annual Burleigh Winter Solstice Festival, igniting the precinct with live music, fire performers, local food and drink, street entertainment, skateboarding demos and plenty more.Warm up next to the fire and learn how to make lanterns while you sip on a hot chocolate (with plenty of marshmallows, of course), or perhaps you’d rather watch the BMX experts show off their skills as you tuck into some seriously good street food. Whatever you choose, this free event is sure to be a hit with the whole family, and you get to support the local community at the same time!

Pups, Plants + Pizza at The Borrowed Nursery, June 22
We all love puppies. We all love pizza. And, let’s be real, plants and succulents are super in right now (even if they do die in our care). So, there really is no reason to miss out on Pups, Plants + Pizza! Bring your pup down to The Borrowed Nursery for some delicious eats and check out some pawsome local businesses, including Hugo’s Ice Creamery, Dizzy Dog Collars and Frankie & Emmett, while you’re at it. Your doggo will thank you for it – don’t blame us if your credit card gets a workout, though.
