Japanese Food Fest will see Shunichi Tanabe, the chef and owner of hidden dining gem Cocotte in Robina, join forces with talented local names to bring us an afternoon of delicious Japanese fare. You can learn the art of gyoza making from the master Akira Takagi, owner of Muso Ramen & Gyoza, get schooled on sushi with Itoshin‘s Hibiki Ito, and learn all about rice culture with renowned miso and koji maker Tomoko Onuki. Into sake and wine? Then you’ll want to catch the masterclass from Hiroyuki Okubo, the head sommelier at Cabarita’s awarded Paper Daisy restaurant, before learning the art of traditional teriyaki from Leesa Trigger of Sumptuous Fine Food.
The event, which will be held in Cocotte’s courtyard, will have a bunch of plates for purchase throughout the afternoon – we’re talking sushi, teppanyaki, karaage chicken, nikumaki (pork-wrapped rice balls) and more. Plus, there will be plenty of Japanese wine, sake, beers, umeshu and cocktails to keep you well hydrated. Entry to the Japanese Food Fest is $12 at the door, which includes one food dish and one drink, plus there will be plenty more available for purchase. Contact Cocotte on 07 5689 1366 for more information.
