As if having the text ‘WHISKY’ tattooed across his knuckles wasn’t enough of a giveaway, Dan Woolley is the man when it comes to whisky, so this is a really unique opportunity to be schooled by the best in the business. Harvest’s ‘Islay and The Sea’ whisky masterclass on June 16 will take sippers on an intriguing voyage with one of the world’s oldest distilleries, Bowmore. You’ll learn (while you sip) about its various bold flavours and smoky tastes before upping the ante and venturing toward the rich and unmistakable Laphroaig distillery.

In true style, the Harvest kitchen will play a big part in the night, with Alastair Waddell curating a multi-course menu highlighting the smoky flavours of the sea to accompany the whisky line-up. The kitchen gave us a few hints as to what’s on offer – we’re talking dishes like smoked-salmon crostini with house pickles and dill creme fraiche, native-pepper spiced blue mackrel with Nimbin rice and cured egg yolk, as well as Alastair’s own version of Cullen skink, a very traditional thick Scottish soup. There’s even talk of a cheeky Scottish tablet to finish on – that’s a fudge-like slice for those playing at home.
