Get your freak on – five killer Halloween events happening on the Gold Coast this year

Pals, it's that time of year again – Halloween is upon us! This year it falls on Thursday October 31, which means if you don't have a cool boss like ours, then you probably won't be able to wear your zombie-bride outfit to work. Luckily there are plenty of spooky soirees happening after dark to satisfy your creepy side! Need a hand planning your night of freaky fun? Here are five killer Halloween events to hit across the Gold Coast.

Halloween at Burleigh Pavilion
While it’s always bright and breezy and full of sunshine, beachfront beauty Burleigh Pavilion is turning dark and creepy to celebrate the darkest day of the year. Head in from 7:00 pm on Thursday October 31 for a night of boos and booze – you’ll be treated to a spooky cocktail on arrival as well as roving canapes, $10 cocktails and dance-worthy DJ beats. Make sure you don your scariest gear as there will be prizes for best dressed, plus there will be a face painter on hand to make you look extra creepy.

‘Til Death Do Us Party at Aviary Rooftop Bar
Gather your freakiest friends and enjoy bottomless booze (yes, bottomless!) at ‘Til Death Do Us Party – a Halloween bash that’s taking over Aviary Rooftop Bar in Southport on Thursday October 31. The eerie event kicks off at 6:00 pm with a ‘gore shot’ for all (don’t ask what it is, just drink it) before getting your fangs into paranormal pizzas like the four-cheese Chucky pizza and the ‘nduja-topped Hellfire pizza. You’ll also indulge in a decadent grazing table with weird and wonderful canapes like spooky sliders, ‘blood’ splattered popcorn, ‘dead velvet’ slice and poisoned apple-pie poppers. Chase it all with bottomless beer, wine and cider – or you can lash out and trick-or-treat yo’self to a special Halloween-themed cocktail from the hair-raising bar team.

Surfers Paradise Fest-Evil
It’s back – and it’s bigger and better than ever! The three-day Surfers Paradise Fest-Evil returns this year from October 31 to November 2 with a graveyard full of free entertainment, bone-chilling activities and creepy in-venue events. There will be costume competitions, street parties, family shows, horror make-up workshops, roving entertainment and late-night 18+ events before culminating with the official Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk on November 2. Scope out the spook-filled program here.

Insane Asylum Halloween at Nightjar
Dress up in your best creepy doctors, nurses and patients costumes and head over to Nightjar for a night of gore and horror at the Insane Asylum Halloween party on Thursday October 31. Sip on blood bag cocktails and syringe shooters as you take in a wicked DJ set from DJ Sean and settle in for a fearsomely fun night. Make sure you dress to impress – there’s a prize for the best insane asylum-themed costume!

Burleigh Brewing Halloween Movie Screening
Keen for something a little different? Spend your Halloween in a brewery, in the dark, after hours, watching iconic supernatural horror film The Craft. The creepy affair will see the brewery come alive after dark with craft beer, spooky vibes, popcorn and good times. The screening starts at around 7:00 pm, so head in early to secure your spot and settle the nerves with a few of Burleigh Brewing’s finest. Got a Halloween outfit gathering dust? Bust it out for this special Halloween edition of Burleigh Brewing’s monthly outdoor cinema. Oh, and it’s free!
