Beer festivals to beachfront art exhibitions – five must-do events on the Gold Coast this September

Planning ahead? Go you! While we always give you a thorough rundown of things to do on the Gold Coast each weekend, it's always a good (nay, great!) idea to act like an actual adult and organise your social commitments in advance. We've hand picked five must-do events happening on the Gold Coast this September. iCalendars at the ready!

Craft Beer & Cider Festival – Saturday September 7
Whether you’re a hop head who knows your pale ales from your pilsners, or if you just enjoy blowing the top off a few frothies with your pals, don’t miss the Crafted Beer & Cider FestivalThe popular one-day festival returns to crack the kegs at Kurrawa Park in Broadbeach for its third year, bringing with it more than 200 different beers and ciders from 44 breweries, alongside a healthy dose of street eats, a roof-raising seaside concert, beer yoga, hotdog-eating competitions, live comedy and more. You can read our in-depth overview here.

Swell Sculpture Festival – September 13-22
This is Queenland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition – and it’s happening right on our doorstep this spring! The pristine Currumbin beachfront will provide the backdrop for a gallery of works from more than 50 local and international artists. While the free public exhibition is a must-see, the program also features a series of events, workshops, artist talks, a movie night, and even a free guided twilight sculpture walk. Scope out the full program here.

Bottomless Brunch at Aviary Rooftop Bar, Saturday September 14
What’s better than a weekend brunch? A bottomless weekend brunch! Southport’s Aviary Rooftop Bar’s popular Bottomless Brunch event is back on Saturday September 14. It’s a glorious sun-kissed morning spent indulging in brunch-style eats (think croque madame pizzas lovingly drizzled with bechamel sauce) and bottomless sips overlooking the pristine Gold Coast skyline. The decadent brunch soiree includes free-flowing Prosecco, wine and beer, live music, as well as the star of the show – DIY spritzes! Planning a boozy spring catch up with friends? This is ideal.

Palmy Fest, Sunday September 22
Keen for a bit of family-friendly fun? Gather the brood and head to the first-ever Palmy Fest on September 22 for the ultimate Sunday funday. The event will take over Rotary Park (near Salk Oval), with the likes of The Hussy Hicks (and more to be announced) hitting the stage, while the kids will be kept entertained by an animal farm, pony rides, roving performers, face painting and more. There will be markets stalls and a selection of street-food stalls dishing up the goods. Fun!

The Pink Flamingo Speigelclub – weekly, Wednesday to Saturday
Winter is outta here, so you’ve got no excuse to stay indoors hibernating at night! Opulent, Vegas-style permanent theatre and late-night club The Pink Flamingo Speigelclub has recently opened on the Gold Coast, launching its debut show SUAVÉ to the public. The unmissable production is now showing (get your tickets here), featuring mind-blowing acrobatics, daring aerial feats, comedy, cirque acts, singing, dancing and plenty of sauciness – all performed on a state-of-the-art four-metre-diameter stage, surrounded by viewing decks, 1920s art-deco styling and glorious pink-hued furnishings.
