Puppy markets to beer-fuelled art – five must-do events on the Gold Coast this November

While we always give you a thorough rundown of things to do on the Gold Coast each weekend, sometimes it's nice to look a little further ahead so you can gather your gaggle and make a real day (or night) of it. So, without any further ado, here are five must-see events happening on the Gold Coast this November. iCalendars at the ready.

JR’s Smokehouse BBQ Texas Trinity Takeover, Sunday November 10
When JR’s Smokehouse BBQ is in town, you can smell the aroma of pecan smoked brisket from streets away and you better make sure you’ve got a seat at the table. JR’s has been cooking authentic low and slow American BBQ since 2009 and on Sunday November 10, the team will post up at Balter HQ for their signature Trinity Plate takeover session. The day will feature two 2.5 hour feasting sessions, the first beginning at 12:00 pm, followed by a 3:00 pm session. Tickets are $35 – this event is always a sell-out, so be quick!

Brewing Local Artists at Burleigh Brewing Co., Saturday November 16
Is there a better combo than local art, tasty eats and craft beers on a sunny Saturday afternoon? Surely not! On Saturday November 16, Burleigh Brewing Co.’s Brewing Local Artists exhibition is back, with 16 local artists eager to showcase their art to the public. Vote for your favourite artists on the day and give them an incredible opportunity to grow their career, with two cash prizes for the exhibitors up for grabs. Check out the exhibition as you nibble on gourmet goodies from The Oak and sip on ice-cold beers from the taproom!

Santa Paws at the Park, Sunday November 17
Keen to get into the festive spirit with your pup? Then mark November 17 in your diaries – the coast’s beloved dog market Paws at the Park is back with a Christmas spin. Santa Paws at the Park (normally held up in Cleveland) will make its debut on the Gold Coast at Country Paradise Parklands from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, with more than 100 stalls featuring local dog and pet products and services, talks and demos, best-dressed competitions, photos with Santa Paws, an off-leash play area and a bunch of fundraising activities going direct to the AWLQLD. It’s BYO dog, of course – just make sure they’re not looking when you buy them their Christmas presents.

SandTunes, Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1
While it was originally pegged for Coolangatta’s beachfront, the coast’s newest two-day music festival, SandTunes, is now bringing the beats to Metricon Stadium on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1. The Saturday will be headlined by the likes of Login, Dean Lewis, Cup Sport and WAAX, while on Sunday, Travis Scott will hit the stage in his only Australian show alongside Carly Rae Jepsen.

Tugun Lights Up, Saturday November 30
If putting up your Christmas tree and getting out your decos is the highlight of your year, then Christmas has come early for you with Tugun Lights Up! Now in its seventh year, Tugun Lights Up kicks off a month-long celebration of everything Christmassy at Tugun Village. Wander through and take in the glittering lights displays in each shopfront window as you enjoy free Christmas entertainment and carols, market stalls and dining under the stars with exclusive menus from the local restaurants.
